    Swim Meet Tomorrow!

    Good Evening,

We had a great first week of practice and the coaches are excited for the season.  I hope everyone is excited for our first meet tomorrow! Since it is just our team, it will be shorter than normal (ending around 7:30) and there will be no relays, but everything else will be the same!

I have had some requests to change entries this weekend.  Going forward, there can be absolutely NO changes to the entries after Saturday morning.  We understand children get sick, but cancelling for baseball, soccer, or other reasons after Friday is taking a swim spot away from another child and possibly causing other children to not have a relay.  We are working very hard to give everyone as many chances as possible to swim, given the large size of our team, and we appreciate everyone's cooperation with this.

Here is what to expect for every swim meet:

    1. Monday morning - A list of what each child is swimming will be taped to the bar.  Please help your child check to see what they are swimming.  (There are limits and you can't do every event in a regular meet.)  If you think I made a mistake in leaving your child out or putting your child in, please see me at the pool asap so we can try to fix it!

    2. The heat sheet will be emailed to all families around noon.

    2. Monday evening - Arrive at the pool 15 minutes before warm-ups.  Find your child's age group marked in the bullpen (grass) and claim a spot by putting your towel down.

*Each child should bring cap, goggles, water bottle, snack, 2 towels (one for drying, one for sitting), and something to do while they wait. We recommend books, coloring, cards, etc. We highly discourage electronics. Absolutely no balls!

    3. After your child is situated, workers can check in at the snack bar.  Nonworking family can find a place to sit on the deck to watch the meet. (Please bring your own chair.)

    4. During the meet, cheer on your child & friends.  Enjoy the evening with other members.  After your child swims, they are encouraged to come talk with Lily & Lauren - we sit on the side of the pool & have candy :)  Then they should go back to the bullpen to get ready for their next race.

*Please do not let your swimmers sit with you during the meet.  You can stay with them in the bullpen, but anyone not in the bullpen may miss their race.

    5. When all of your child's events are finished - check out with Lauren or Lily.  This is very important as we sometimes make changes to relays and need your child to fill in!

    6. Tuesday - get your ribbons! They will be in a file folder with your name on it after 11 am.  (9&older can get on Wed. if they don't stay that late.)  Ribbons are awarded by heat so every child gets a ribbon for every event UNLESS they are disqualified.  If you are unsure why your child got disqualified, feel free to ask.

*Common disqualifications are: touching the rope or bottom at any time; turning over during backstroke before your hand touches the water; legs coming apart during butterfly or arms not going completely around/ out of the water; breaststroke kick & timing.

Thank you for a great start to the swim season! We are excited to begin the season.  See you at the pool!

-Lauren, Lily, Madelyn, Adam, Tommy, Mary Ellen, John, & Ava Grace
