Hi Swim Families!  Swim season has started and the kids and coaches are already having fun!

Our first meet is Monday, June 6 at the MAC.  Warm ups start at 4 pm and the meet starts at 4:30 pm.  This meet includes only MAC swimmers.  Please RSVP on the website no later than 5pm today!!  Reminder that no towels are provided at the swim meets.  Also, swimmers can get a ticket from a coach when they are finished swimming to turn in for a free dinner at the pool grill.  There will be food and drinks available for purchase for parents and siblings on Monday night.    

Anyone 8 and under, MUST be able to consistently swim the full length of the pool without touching the bottom, ropes or sides to be kept on the Penguin team.  They must demonstrate this tomorrow.  Swimmers who cannot will be notified and asked to move down to Puffins next week.   

Also, if you have a new swimmer who is 8 and under, they will only be able to participate in the Penguin meet if they were able to come to practice this week.  I understand that many were not able to come to practice this week because of school or vacations.  However, coaches need to be confident that a child can safely swim the length of the pool before they are put into a meet.  These children can come to practice next week and compete in the next meet, if they are ready!  

Parents need to make sure swimmers use the restroom BEFORE practice begins.  Also, parents should not be standing poolside during practice.  Sometimes it is even best to step inside and watch through the windows.  Parents are more than welcome to talk to coaches after the practice time.  The parent reps are always available to talk or answer questions anytime.  

Finally, there were a LOT of towels used today.  It might be helpful to pack your own towel, sweatshirt or robe on chilly days like today.  That will help cut down on the amount of towels the cold swimmers need.
